Another Winning Year at
Webster Groves Parade
We had a very good feeling about our royal rolling trailer
court for Jane, the Princess Firecracker, at the 2001 Webster
Parade, and our intuition was right on. Complete with a Galactic throne,
booster box, 10-foot planet pole, and giant crown, the Sister from Another
Planet Crowned crew of 20-something extra-terrestrials rode and marched
in style, donning spinning planets, feather fans, thunder tubs, and posters
that told the story of the Princess Firecrackers journey to earth.
Even Pumpkin, the royal canine of the Queen Mother, and Zoe,
royal canine of Princesses Cynthia and Holly pranced along on this grand
occasion.

And yes, we did take the prize again for VISITOR in the parade,
no small feat considering the competition of some 2000 parade participants.
But honestly, we felt so supercharged with the spirit of America, helpful
friends, happy fellowship and family on this 4th of July that there was
actually no way we could have lost!
But now a little credit where credit is due!
The amazing throne, booster
box and flag pole stand was built by Josh Dehne, a gifted earthling and
recent high school graduate from Pasadena Hills.
The beautiful paint job
on the front and back of the throne and booster box was created by none
other than John Odell, Husband from Another Planet, and renown St. Louis
artist, whose paintings of the Missouri Botanical Garden and Nature Reserve
are nationally praised!
The Amazing Giant Crown
that led the trailer court atop the royal station wagon was created by Dorothy
Pingel, the Queen Mother herself, who sewed and engineered a beautiful,
red printed brocade, black sculptured velvet and gold lamé sheath
for the chicken wire frame. What a woman what a seamstress! As we
always say, Queen Dorothy is simply THE best!
The We Remember
When signs were created by yours truly, Marjorie Pingel, Boss of Everything,
Parade foreman, and lead Thunder tube instrumentalist.
